I am really struggling, what should I do?
We’re so sorry to hear that you’re struggling at the moment. Please reach out to an emergency helpline (there are links on the top of each page of the website) or to your GP/A&E for support if you need to. Remember, our mental health is as important as our physical health. At difficult times it can be helpful to ask ourselves a question like “What would I do if this was my appendix?”
I’ve not found what I’m looking for in the resources.
We’re always open to ideas for new resources and improvements. If you have any specific suggestions, please do email us at FirstYouUk@gmail.com and we’ll aim to get back to you within 5 working days.
I have emailed you, how long will you take to respond?
Thank you for taking the time to email First You. We’ll always try to respond to your email query within 5 working days. Please bear with us if it’s ever a bit longer. We’re volunteers and you’ll understand that unpredictable stuff sometimes happens when juggling this with work and home lives.
You have lots of services on the website. Are these recommendations or referrals?
First You are a signposting service; we have collated a number of services and resources which we think healthcare professionals, like us, may find useful. They are not endorsements and we are not referring you.
It’s your individual responsibility to decide which service or resource, if any, could be useful to you and to ensure that you understand what the service is offering and what the terms of this are.
You’re asking for my email address. Do I need to be concerned about confidentiality?
We understand concerns about confidentiality. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Organisation (ICO) and will hold your data in accordance with this. Our obligations around confidentiality are bound by those of any citizen and for some us by GMC registration.
I have an idea for the FirstYou website.
Fantastic! Here at FirstYou we love collaboration. If you have suggestions, ideas for improvements or services and resources which could help our healthcare professional community please email us at FirstYouUk@gmail.com and we’ll aim to get back to you within 5 working days.
What is the difference between counselling and coaching?
There are many similarities and areas of overlap; they have differences in training and certification. As a generalisation, counselling tends to focus on mental health and resolving an issue or problem, whereas coaching focuses on mental growth and potentially exploring changing direction. I’d like to know more about your terms and conditions and disclaimer.
You can find all this information in our terms and conditions section, there’s a link at the bottom of every page. We have a legal disclaimer which you can read there too but it is not very personal so let us explain to you in our own words how we went about creating this site.
We have tried to signpost a range of services which we believe to be of good quality. Above all, we respect your ability to choose what is right for you. We have indicated whether services are provided free of charge or for a fee and recommend that you investigate further to ensure you know exactly what you are getting from a provider. The site will continue to evolve and your feedback will be used to facilitate that.
So do let us know what you like and don’t like, and what you need that isn’t yet featured!
I think First You is awesome and I’d love to send some money to help you keep the site running, how can I?
Thank You! We think that makes you pretty darn awesome yourself! To send us money to keep this site running just click on the ‘Support Us’ button. You can find it at the top right of every page. This will take you directly to our GoFundMe page. All donations, little or large, are very gratefully received – thank you so much.
